W Roy Dunbar, MasterCard International's president of Global Technology and Operations, has joined EDS’ board of directors, the company announced.

Dunbar, 43, is the fourth new director elected to the board since Mike Jordan was named chairman and CEO in March 2003. EDS’ board now has 11 members, nine of whom are outside directors.

Prior to working for MasterCard, where he was responsible for the company’s global payments platform and operations, Dunbar enjoyed a 14-year career with Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Company.

From 1999 to 2003, he served as CIO and is credited with transforming the pharmaceutical giant's use of IT to increase its speed to market with new drugs. In recognition of his accomplishments, Dunbar was named "Chief Information Officer of the Year" in 2003 by InformationWeek and one of 2002's "20 Young Executives You Need to Know" by Business 2.0. read more
