Companies expect headcount reductions and budget cuts across Europe and US, but survey reveals outlook varies significantly
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) shows that, while headcount and HR budget projections vary significantly across Europe, all organisations surveyed forecast reductions to an extent - with some clearly succumbing to urgent pressures to cut costs potentially to the detriment of long-term business health. Additionally, further negative news from related PwC research conducted in the US suggests European organisations may need to steel themselves for further challenges.

Dilemma
"... The culture at the new firm is absolutely dire and staff utterly demotivated and insecure because of the cost and job cutting currently underway. ...My previous firm have indicated they'll gladly have me back - but cannot match the base (the difference is about 15%). ...both packages are at the middle to high end but I am concerned that if I take a step back in pay, it will be a disadvantage when the economy recovers."
