If you wanted a visual metaphor of the consultancy landscape a few years back you might picture a vast prehistoric landscape in which a few dinosaurs slugged it out over major pieces of prey while beneath them tiny mammals fought each other for the scraps that were left over.

Steria to buy UK IT group Xansa
French IT service provider Steria is to buy British rival Xansa Plc for around £472 million ($960 million) in cash, in an offer that is 69.9% above Xansa's closing price of 76.5p a share on 26 July, the day before Xansa disclosed it was "in advanced talks regarding a possible offer" without saying with whom.

Capgemini continues recovery
