03-Jul-2009   Almost 100 PwC graduate vacancies still open for class of 2009

Despite the mood in the graduate market being somewhat despondent following a contraction in the number of graduate recruitment opportunities this year, there are still vacancies available at PwC for those wishing to enter the business world according to Sonja Stockton, head of recruitment, at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the UK.

Almost 100 PwC graduate vacancies still open for class of 2009

Sonja Stockton commented: "This year, we are continuing to bring on board 1,000 graduates as we maintain our commitment to invest for the long term success of the business.

"While the graduate employment market is tougher than it has been in a generation, there are still opportunities available provided that new graduates focus rigorously on their applications ensuring they dedicate time and research to the organisation and reflect accurately their academic achievements in their applications. They also need to be more open minded and flexible about the options available to them. It's the opportunity to kick start their career with a top employer that counts, and the variety of work on offer is amazing for the right students who meet our requirements.

For those undergraduates that are entering their first or second years they should be thinking about how they can develop their employability skills and make their future applications distinctive. Internships, summer jobs and temporary work all provide vital skills that could make the difference – and make an applicant stand out in a tight job market.

"Academic performance is very important, but it is not the only thing we look for at PwC. Strong and demonstrable evidence in understanding customer service, networking, flexibility, team working - these are all real aspects of business life that students have experienced in their study, work or time out."
