LONDON -- WTP Advisors UK, the UK arm of the global tax and business advisory firm WTP Advisors, has announced the addition of Liz Douglas, who joins as a Tax Manager. Previously with Grant Thornton and BDO, Liz brings a rich experience of leading FTSE 250 companies to her new role with WTP.

“As we continue to attract top quality individuals from the Big Four and other competitors, we are delighted to have someone with Liz’s caliber and significant talents join our team,” says Barton Facey, partner at WTP Advisors UK.

In an exciting new venture that will cross-pollinate client service and business development on a global scale, Liz will pilot a secondment initiative between WTP global affiliates. Liz is spending her first three months seconded to the U.S., working on U.S. tax filings for the European entities of a Fortune 100 group.

“By offering our employees such opportunities, we are not just matching, but surpassing the work experience available from the large accounting firms,” notes Facey.

Additionally, Facey believes that cross-training amongst members of the WTP Alliance of Global Affiliates will continue to grow by leaps and bounds, in light of the current political and economic environment.

“There has been creeping internationalization of tax in Europe, largely driven by the European Union,” says Facey.

Countries have been regularly taken to the European Court of Justice for domestic tax rules that are contrary to the principles of the EU, resulting in some countries having to change their domestic rules to take international principles into account.

Given this trend, Facey believes that it is imperative for multinational companies to secure a tax advisor with broad experience managing tax compliance for global organizations that are required to adhere to the rules set by many diverse, and sometimes competing, governing bodies and countries.
